There is nothing better than a bed that’s both plush and cozy. You can’t convince me! So, Let’s talk real for a second – whenever I stumble upon those stunning beds on Instagram, I hunt for sources and links only to be met with severe sticker shock. Sheets exceeding $100, bedding over $200, and don’t even get me started on accent pillows COVERS crossing the $100 mark! 

Enough was enough – I was fed up with these high price tags. So, I decided to work my DIY magic and create a fluffy, luxury hotel-style bed on a budget! And now, I’m spilling the beans on how I made it happen. You can have a fluffy-looking bed in just six simple steps without the luxury price tag.

STEP 1: First thing first – high-quality sheets! For me, this is the most essential thing in terms of comfort. They might not instantly fluff up your bed’s appearance. Still, they certainly add to the overall cozy vibe. I like to sleep with a fitted sheet and a top sheet. I don’t know what kind of crazy people sleep without a top sheet, but I have talked to several people who say they only stick with a fitted sheet. Though I don’t understand it, it’s all about personal preference. 

Hot sleepers, listen up. I found the best, most comfortable bamboo cooling sheet set on Amazon. I’d get something with a bit of extra warmth if you are always cold. These are my recommendations for cold sleepers. They are also amazingly comfortable.

STEP 2:  Duvet cover with a down duvet insert – This is a must (IMO) – But don’t worry, if you are not a fan of duvets, try to find a fluffy comforter so you aren’t missing out on all the fluff for an extra layer of comfort. Add two duvet inserts to one cover if you want the most fluff. Either way, finish off your bed-making skills with a double-fold magic trick at the top of the bed. STEP 3: Layering is essential. Toss a quilt at the foot of the bed. This will help start the layered look we are looking for. It will also provide more warmth in the cooler months by simply pulling it up from the foot of the bed. And for the warmer months, I love keeping it folded at the end of the bed as if it’s a weighted blanket. A little bit of weight snuggling my legs makes me sleep so well. There are so many quilt options, but I snagged a beautifully neutral one from Target years ago, and it fits in perfectly with every bed set I have had. It is also double-sided, so when I feel like switching things up, I flip it over and get a new look.

STEP 4: A textured throw blanket casually tossed at the end of the bed over the quilt is literal magic! Layer upon layer is what we’re after for that ultra-cozy appeal, and a good chunky knit throw does just that. It gives you more layers and makes your bed look like the most cozy bed you’ve ever seen. 

STEP 5: Pillow magic! Stack your sleeping pillows flat against the headboard. This serves as the perfect prop for your euro pillow. These best-selling Amazon pillows are my favorite. They have a 4.4-star rating with over 230k reviews! It’s a bit more of a splurge than I’d usually go for, but they are so worth it and often on sale! Keep your eyes peeled for those discounts. They offer a queen bed and a king bed. I love them so much that I added them to our guest bedroom. They make our guests feel like they are at a five-star hotel. 

STEP 6: Euro and decorative pillows – You already know it: Amazon again came to my rescue. I haven’t found a better euro pillow for the price. I used three euro pillows for my king-size bed, but tweak the number according to your bed’s dimensions. Down pillows, or alternative down pillows, are a must here – the kind that practically begs for a cozy karate chop. You can’t beat it; fluffy pillows are the best. I like to add a lumbar pillow in the front, but this isn’t something you have to have. I enjoy having one on the bed to put it under my legs (behind my knees) for extra comfort when I’m lying down.

Follow these easy steps, and you have the bed of your dreams. A fluffy cloud you get to snuggle into every night. The best part is that you didn’t break the bank to achieve the soft, luxurious look. You just saved a lot of money! Never settle for those insane price tags.
